One of our favorite Las Cruces events at Picacho Mountain is Men Who Cook to benefit one of our favorite Las Cruces charities, Mesilla Valley Hospice, is coming up Sat. Aug. 14, 2010.

More than 60 “celebrity” chefs will be bringing their best special food dish to the Men Who Cook fundraiser for the Mesilla Valley Hospice.

Each of the men prepares a favorite dish or gourmet specialty, and plenty of it, serving it to the attendees at that evening’s event. More than 500 people are expected to attend the samplings from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road.

Besides sampling the dishes from the more 60 local chefs, there will be a silent auction of antique items.

Individual tickets will be $60 and can be reserved now at Mesilla Valley Hospice. Corporate sponsorship and tables are available as well as group reservations. Also, 1,000 tickets will be sold at $10 a piece for a 50/50 raffle. Winners do not have to be present to get their prize.

To buy tickets for Men Who Cook, mail information with payment to: Mesilla Valley Hospice Foundation 299 E. Montana Ave., Las Cruces, NM 88005. Event tickets ordered will be sent by mail. Tickets ordered after Aug. 1 will be available at the door the day of the event.

For more information or to order by phone, call the hospice at 525-5720, weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Mesilla Valley Hospice fax number is 525-5739.
