Meet Picacho Mountain Neighbors — The Brockways
New neighbors Charlotte and Gary Brockway moved to Picacho Mountain from La Grande, Oregon, earlier this year. They had visited friends who live in the area a number of times and fell in love with all that Las Cruces has to offer. Then Oregon’s extended periods of six- to ten-foot drifts of snow that kept them indoors for months last year were the deciding factor. They knew they wanted to move their retirement nest to sunny Las Cruces, and Picacho Mountain was the perfect place for them!
History and the arts keep them busy
Both Charlotte and Gary are involved in many arts hobbies. Charlotte sings in the choir and Gary plays the handbells. They have passed along this hobby to their two grown sons. Their son Jeff plays the handbells as well!
They have enjoyed the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, particularly the POPS Under the Stars series. And they have been busy checking out the many other unique cultural and arts attractions available in our beautiful Las Cruces desert setting.
Both of them were educators who taught multiple subjects but had an emphasis in history. Gary also has a unique hobby that highlights both his family history and his interest in historical studies.
