Now, residents at Picacho Mountain can take advantage of improved curbside recycling service!
While New Mexico is becoming a leader in all things green, curbside recycling service has been slow to become available to Las Cruces residents. Picacho Mountain has been on the leading edge of Las Cruces communities to offer residents curbside recycling service.
Picacho Mountain is pleased to announce that Mesilla Valley Disposal is now offering our residents 50 gallon mixed-container recycle bins. Previously recycling had to be separated out into separate bins. However, now all acceptable recycling items can be combine into one single bin, like many other communities around the country. Additionally, Mesilla Valley Disposal has expanded there recycling service pick-up from once a month, to twice a month for Picacho Mountain residents.
We’ve known for sometime that mixed-container recycling service is essential to encouraging residents to take part in a recycling program. We are excited to provide this great service and make our community just a little bit greener.
Items ACCEPTED for the new mixed-container recycling service include:
- Aluminum
- Tin
- Newspaper (no glossy inserts)
- Corrugated cardboard only
- Plastics that have the recycle symbol on them
- Styrofoam
- Office/Copy paper
Items the CANNOT be accepted at this time are:
- Glass
- Magazines or glossy paper/inserts
- Yard Waste
- No biodegradable items
- No electronic devices/appliances
