With the holidays rapidly approaching, it’s time to start thinking about crossing some gifts off your list.
The Artists of Picacho Hills’ Holly-Day Art Sale Nov. 27 and 28 at the Picacho Mountain Visitor Center is the perfect opportunity to get a few gifts crossed off your list and support the local Las Cruces, New Mexico economy at the same time.
The Holly-Day Art Sale, hosted by Picacho Mountain Development, will feature the original artwork, jewelry, basketry, copper art and more from 16 of Picacho Hills’ finest artists.
“The Holly-Day Art Sale is not only a great place to find holiday presents, it is also going to be a lot of fun,” said Marty Arndt, one of the featured artists and planners of the event.
Arndt specializes in wire design jewelry. “The gifts you’ll find at this art sale will be one of a kind,” said Arndt.
Other artists who will have artwork for sale at the event include Donna Wood (watercolor), Rosemary McKeown (oils), Jeanne DeArment (fabric art), Mary Hayhoe (watercolor/ jewelry), Lonnie Wilson (basketry), Wanda Sparks (gourd art), Alice Terry (oils), Nancy Broekhoff (jewelry), Sandy Clover (jewelry), Sherry Gara (fiber arts), Dee Knudson (basketry), Jan Harrison (fiber arts), Marty Blasche (painting/basketry), Marilyn Hansen (reed weaving), and Kathy Faubion (jewelry).
“We are excited to host this holiday art sale,” at Picacho Mountain owner Bob Pofahl. “The Artists of Picacho Hills are some of the best artists in southern New Mexico,” said Pofahl. “Events like this help to showcase their talents as well as support our local economy.”

The Artists of Picacho Hills is one of the newest art associations in Las Cruces. It was founded in 2008 by a few friends with shared interests who joined together to hold an Art in the Garden Show. This event attracted many people interested in art, and it blossomed into a group of 31 artists including painters, sculptors, jewelry makers, photographers, woodworkers, potters, textile and multimedia.
