Full Moon Program – Trackways of the Southern New Mexico
Take a moonlit journey to the Robledo Mountains of the southern New Mexico and learn about one of the world’s richest fossil footprint localities. Jerry MacDonald will discuss his initial discoveries of large trackways in 1987. Learn more about the ancient landscape of southern New Mexico including the inland Permian sea that encompassed White Sands 280 million years ago. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. “On the River” – Southwest Environmental Center’s Annual Gala Fundraiser
The Southwest Environmental Center’s 14th annual On the River, For the River–will be held on Saturday, October 23rd, from 5-10:30 p.m. at the Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park. The park is located along the Rio Grande near the town of Mesilla. Tours of the park will be offered to event attendees at 4:30, 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00 pm.
Food, drink, fun, dancing, auction and like-minded people come together to celebrate under the stars and raise money to help protect and restore the Rio Grande and other wild places and wildlife.
Tickets to the event are $50 in advance and $55 after October 20th. They can be purchased at the Southwest Environmental Center or through their website www.wildmesquite.org.
